CDG Express Train Opening Date and Fares Set - Opening March 28, 2027

Finally, a direct, comfortable line between CDG airport and the center of Paris - but it's going to cost you.

According to reporting this morning in Le Parisien, the company that will provide the service, "Hello Paris," has announced the opening date for the much-delayed and much-awaited CDG Express, which will run between CDG Terminal 2 and Gare de l'Est. (It was initially supposed to be up and running for the 2024 Olympics . . .). Service will begin March 28, 2027.

The train will take around 20 minutes to get between Gare de l'Est and CDG T2, and it will be direct. No more stopping at every stop on the RER B and stopping every two minutes. The trains will run every 15 minutes from 5 am until midnight.

Fares will be:
One-way ticket: 25 euros
Roundtrip ticket: 42 euros
Kids under 16 ride free

Those who have a monthly or annual Navigo subscription will pay 16.50 euros for a one-way ticket, or 28 euros for a return. (Reading this, I think it's only for locals who pay directly from their bank accounts.)

(the paper also included an infographic comparing the prices and length of similar dedicated rail lines - and their public transportation options and taxi costs -- to major cities' airports.

Roughly -

Paris CDG - Express train will be 25euros and take 20 minutes.
London - Express train costs 30 euros and takes 15 minutes.
Rome - Express train costs 14 euros and takes 32 minutes
Stockholm - Express train costs 31.50 euros and takes 18 minutes.
Tokyo - Express train costs 17 euros and takes 53 minutes
Sydney - Express train costs 13 euros and takes around 10-15 minutes.

They then listed the taxi costs and cheaper public transportation options between each of the cities' airports.

I'm pretty sure you can get a discount on Heathrow Express if purchasing in advance ?? I don't know what other cities that is true for, but it doesn't seem like they plan for that to be an option for the CDG Express.

So . . . less than a year!!
Enfin !

Interesting! Thanks for posting. I like these trains, generally. I know the Heathrow Express gets mixed reviews on here but it's my go-to. I've tried Elizabeth line but the crowds steered me away.

And you're right - I buy my Heathrow Express tickets far in advance for 10 pounds:)

Also, I believe the new No 15 Metro line will begin operation in April, cutting across the south of Paris. By 2031, it should completely circle Paris, a kind of Metro Peripherique.

It's interesting that the Oslo Express train is going to be scrapped as a separate entity in December 2027- the service is going to be incorporated within the main city fare structure, and the timetable rewritten so it gives no real time benefit either. It will be just another regional train.

All four London express trains (Heathrow, Luton, Stansted and Gatwick) you can get advance booking discounts. Heathrow is now strange in that the Elizabeth Line (essentially the RER of London) is the most expensive rail option, if you can plan ahead

Roughly at the same time, a tunnel connecting Est and Nord stations should open. This will allow easier connections to RER E (and B, but if you need RER B you might as well take it from CDG) and suburban & mainline railways from Gare du Nord.

The price is high but it is likely to make sense for single travellers without a local transit pass. Especially for those staying near Gare de l'Est itself or along metro line 7 (which does not conveniently connect with the existing RER B).
