Hello. I posted about a 21 hr layover in CDG and someone suggested to stay near Notre Dame. We ended up in the Latin Quarter in a hotel (we found Korner Sorbonne) that is walking distance - ~10 min with luggage - to Saint-Michel-Notre-Dame RER B station. And yes, close to Notre Dame Cathedral.
1) taxi from CDG: we got a taxi at CDG. I read that it is a flat rate of 56Eu to Paris. When we got into the taxi, we were told it was a flat rate of 65Eu. But the flat rate stops when you actually enter Paris center - so the driver started the meter! Our hotel is in the Left Bank. Is this correct? Anyone experienced this? We paid a total of 84Eu.
2) arriving into Terminal 2E from RER B train - we saw Air France kiosks and decided to use them. A well-dressed woman (suit and speaking English) said she will help us - which she did. It is self-service so you don't need help but we accepted anyway. Then she asked for a donation to some charity after we printed our luggage tags. We should've checked if she was an Air France employee! We alerted the AF counter and it seems this is a known occurrence! Lesson learned!
3) checking in for our return US flight - liquids have to be in a bag that they hand to you while you are in line. My liquid cosmetics were in a Ziplock bag and I was asked to transfer all the contents in an identical-sized plastic bag that they handed to me. I even overlaid the 2 bags to show they are the same size but I was still asked to transfer all my cosmetics.
Have a safe flight, everyone!
