CDG (Delta) transfer times to Easyjet gate

We arrive at CDG at 815. Our flight to BIQ leaves at 1055. From what people say we should be there at at 1055 at the latest.

Will we have time for that transfer? Looks like almost two hours....

Thanks,

Linda

cdg is not a small airport.. so ,, exactly which Terminal are you arriving at .. and from which terminal does your flight on Easyjet leave? ( you can walk between some terminals but need to take shuttles between others)

Have you checked bags you will have to wait for?

You can sometimes get through immigration really quickly.. but it can also take an hour.. what if your flight is late.. and also.. I have arrived at CDG on time.. but not been able to deboard because they bused us off the tarmac in lots to the terminals..

Anyways.. I personally would have allowed more time myself.

You may.. if everything goes perfectly make it.. however. if anything goes sideways...

Have you already booked Easyjet flight?

That's not enough time. You'll miss your flight and end up having to buy a new ticket at full price.

This is not a transfer which might be possible; this is a new separate flight and Easyjet closes check in well before the time of the flight; it is at least 30 minutes ahead and maybe more than that. And your ETA is just that; it doesn't mean you will land then or be at the gate then. 8 of my last 10 European flights have been late on arrival. Immigration can easily taken an hour especially if there are giant planes landing just ahead of you and it can take longer if you are unlucky. then you have to get to the terminal used by Easyjet; if that is not the same terminal, it takes a bit to get oriented, get the shuttle and get there.

I doubt this is a doable time frame; if you already have the ticket then study up on how to get from the landing terminal to the Easyjet gate and hope for the best, but I imagine you will miss this flight.

Linda, your connection will be close, at best; in fact, we made it (barely) last month. Our flight on American landed at Terminal 2A and easyJet uses Terminal 2D - across the street. The Immigration/Passport control lines may be long but they move quickly; perhaps, a willing CDG airport staff can assist you to an expedited line. After you claim your baggage, grab a luggage cart and follow the overhead signs to 2D. Perhaps, you are only traveling with carry on's, even better. If you need directions to 2D ASK - there are many CDG info specialists walking about the airport who will guide you, and even more airport staff who speak English and will be glad to assist.
Fingers crossed and safe travels.

Linda,

That could be a difficult connection to make, as CDG is not usually the most "user friendly" airport. If there are any complications, such as late arrival of your flight from the U.S., long queues in Passport control or whatever, it may not be possible to make the connecting flight. You'll have to collect checked luggage also, which will take time.

As I recall, easyJet closes the gate about 30 minutes prior to flight time, so you'll need to include that in your time calculations.

Wow - if 2a to 2b is hard, 2e to 2 b will be nearly impossible! Maybe we will fly out a day early (standby) and get our time adjustment going earlier.

Which gets to the question of what we will do all day! Ideas? (Don't want to get into Paris.) Something that would get us out walking would be nice.

If all goes smoothly, a big if but not unheard of, it can be done. Though I'm a little confused at your post. You say your Easyjet flight leaves at 10:55 but then say you should "be there at 10:55 at the latest." What did you mean to say?

But if you take the chance you must do one thing that will give you a shot: DO NOT CHECK LUGGAGE!!! Sorry to scream but this concept is as foreign as your vacation destination for most people. Especially on a European vacation. Savvy travelers know this and have learned to pack light. If you haven't done it, learn it. If you stand in line waiting for your bag to arrive and then again to re-check at Easyjet, you almost certainly will miss your flight.

Everyone here can tell stories of delayed flights and missing or almost missing connections. But things do run smoothly more often than not. It was not a good idea to book a non-codeshare flight so close, but cross your fingers and don't let it ruin your trip if you miss the flight.

Linda,

Delta does not allow Standby on international flights unless you are flying on a 'non revenue" ticket, in which case your entire original plan has major flaws (the assumption that you will get on the flight landing at 8:15 with no problem being the first one.) Unless your sponsor is a high ranking Delta executive there are not any guarantees and I am assuming that if that was the case you would have realized that landing at 8:15 with a non protected connection where you really need to be at the Easy Jet check in areas by 9:55 is way too risky!. Landing does not mean "off the plane" it means "wheels on the ground" At CDG there's generally 30 minutes of wandering around the airport before you get to the gate and unless you are in Business there's a mad shuffle to get off which can take 10 to 15 minutes if you are pretty far back. So it's 9 before you get off the plane and start trying to deal with immigration, baggage etc..

Plus even thought the shout above was not to check luggage if the overheads are full you will have no choice. Your luggage will go under the plane and it happens a lot!

My rule of thumb is a minimum of 4 hours on a non protected connection and a realistic acceptance of the cost of missing it (i.e., full price plane or train ticket)

So if you have already bought your ticket to CDG the only thing you can do is change the ticket on Easy Jet.

"So if you have already bought your ticket to CDG the only thing you can do is change the ticket on Easy Jet."

Unless the OP purchased one of the easyJet higher priced "Flex" tickets, AFAIK the tickets are non-changeable and non-refundable. In the same situation, I'd probably call easyJet and try to find a solution.

If your Easyjet ticket is non-refundable, you could just buy a second ticket on a later flight. That way, you have two options. If you do make the earlier connection, you throw away the later ticket. If you miss the earlier connection, you kill some time in the airport, take the later plane, and throw away the first ticket. Just consider the cost of the CDG-BIQ leg to be the price of both tickets together.

When I had to connect in Rome on separate tickets, I did this deliberately. I bought two tickets from Rome to Palermo - one three hours after arriving, and one ten hours after arriving. I made the three hour connection, but that's never guaranteed. It was actually cheaper to do it this way (two advance tickets) than to buy a fully refundable ticket, or to buy a ticket at the last minute.

And, while everyone is correct to say that you can't count on making your connection, you can't assume you won't make it either. I once had a three hour connection in CDG (all on one ticket so I was "protected"), but my plane took off almost two hours late from JFK, so I was sure I'd miss it. I ran through the terminals, and when I got to the security check at my second gate, the agent saw I had been rushing. She told me I had plenty of time to relax, get a coffee, and meet a girl. Now, I'd rather have met a boy, but I found it amusing that in Paris, even when you're running to catch a plane, there's always time to think of romance. None occurred on that airport visit, but I did indeed have time for breakfast before my second flight.
