CDG Connecting Flights

We are departing American Airlines from Philadelphia to CDG and connecting to Bordeaux on Air France. How much time do you recommend between arrivals and departures? One option would give us 2 hours and 40 minutes between arrival and departure. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Are they separate tickets? It seems strange to be arriving on AA and taking the next flight on AF.

If they ARE separate tickets, 2h40 would be cutting it close. It might work if your American flight arrives right on time, but any delays and you'll have a hard time making it to where you need to check in for your second, AirFrance, flight. I always allow an hour from arrival time to deplane, get through immigration and customs, and make my way out of the terminal. You then would have (if your flight arrived on time) 1h 40 minutes to find your next check-in desk, check in, and go through security for your now-domestic flight. If you're okay being nervous the whole time you're in Philadelphia about whether you're going to take off on time, or if you can afford to buy a walk-up plane ticket for Bordeaux if you miss the connection you hope to make, then go for it. It depends on the level of risk you are willing to assume (and how much cash you'll have on you to deal with any missed flight).

No way if they are separate tickets -- possible but any little thing goes wrong like plane an hour late which is common and you are in trouble. If it is one ticket, then no problem. You probably make it and if you don't they will take care of you.
