CDG airport -- transfer from international to domestic flight

Hi All,
My 17 year old daughter is flying to France in August to visit friends outside Nantes. We just bought her a flight to Paris on American Airlines, thinking she could train to Nantes. But that train ride is too long, so we purchased a domestic ticket on Air France from CDG to Nantes.

She has 5 hours to transfer when she arrives in Paris to get to her Air France flight.

Is anyone out there kind of an "expert" in CDG airport? Can anyone walk us through what her steps will be? I'm assuming she will need to go through customs and will be funneled out of the security area, will need to transfer to the domestic terminal, and go back through security. Does this sound right?

Any tips on what to expect? How to stay calm (for her and for me! lol! )???

Thank you! That site is actually super helpful! Maps and everything! I appreciate it.
Do you think that sounds right, that she'll go through customs and then will have to go back through security to get to her Air France gate?

Will your daughter have checked luggage? And if so, will it somehow (not likely) be checked through to Nantes? If she has only hand luggage, she can try the transfer process shown at the link above but there is no guarantee that it will work because she is not technically doing a "correspondance." Will she have her boarding pass for the domestic flight? American uses Terminal 2B at CDG. The domestic flight is probably leaving from Terminal 2F or Terminal 2G. Checked luggage messes the whole thing up because she will have to leave the secured area and should be prepared to not be able to make the transfer shown at the other link and be prepared to have to exit the secured area and then head to her terminal. See https://www.parisaeroport.fr/en/passengers/flights/connecting-flights from the official CDG site.

5 hours is plenty of time and US flights are usually early or on time (on the other hand, our flight last fall was two hours late, but even then if we had 5 hours we would have had no trouble making the second flight here)

She just exits, goes through immigration which might take 2 hours (last 3 arrivals -- one took over 90 minutes, one 45 minutes but the plane was late and they mishandled the luggage so we had a long wait getting that straightened out, our last one we were through immigration in about 15 minutes and then waited for luggage as it is always a bit slow at CDG.

She then takes her luggage and walks through the 'nothing to declare door' and is in the terminal and then heads to the terminal she needs for the next flight where she checks in and drops her luggage and goes through security. It goes faster if all check ins are done on line then she will only need to drop luggage and do security. If she arrives and departs at one of the terminals in 2 which is likely then she can probably walk between terminals. Some gates in one of the terminals have airside shuttle transfers.

If she only has carry ons and has all her boarding passes she might be able to do an airside transfer where immigration is handled only for transferring passengers. Technically she is not connecting but is on two separate flights, so worth a try but not sure she can do that.

Five hours should be plenty of time.

I’m assuming she has checked luggage. When she arrives in Paris, she will follow the crowd to passport control, then collect her checked luggage and exit the secure area.

Then it will be just like she is starting the check in process all over: she will go to the terminal where her flight departs. There isn’t a specific “domestic” terminal. She will check in at the counter if she does not already have an electronic boarding pass. She will remove the luggage tag from the flight she was just on, then get a new luggage tag and hand over her luggage at the counter. Then she will go through security and go to her gate.
