My friends and I will be landing on a Saturday in August at 1 pm and are going directly to Bayeux. Is it best to get a cab to the whatever train station in central Paris? Since we aren't sure how long it will take us to leave the airport and get to train station, I'm wondering if it will be possible to buy our tickets at the station or if we should reserve beforehand.
Thank you
This is asked many times on this forum. Yes, take a fixed rate taxi (only from the official taxi stand) to Gare Saint-Lazare. From there there are trains to Bayeux or Caen. You do no need reservations for these trains, you can buy tickets for the next train once at the station. If you will be picking up a car, it is easiest, with more options, to rent in Caen. Beware if getting a rental car that the rental offices are typically closed for a long lunch. So check ahead make sure your train gets you there in time. Otherwise, I would sit in a café or restaurant in Paris and catch a train that arrives at a proper time.
