CDC handwritten vaccination card ok for proof in France and Belgium

Will the original handwritten CDC vaccination / booster record be satisfactory in France and Belgium? Or do you need a card with the QR code. I am from Pennsylvania and they are not part of the CDC. VAMS system. (only 14 states are). Wondered what others experiences have been since tests are no longer required in FR and BE.

US QR codes are not aligned with European systems, so they are not helpful over there. It's your CDC card that you need.

For those two countries, I believe vaccination status is only needed for entry, not for daily activity...so yeah, your CDC card suffices, the airline is the only ones that will ask for it.

France did encourage visitors to obtain its Pass Sanitaire when it was required for restaurants and museums (and other venues), and in Belgium you needed either another EU countries QR code (like the Pass Sanitaire) or a visitors QR code issued by Belgium, in Belgium the CDC card was not accepted for entry into venues. Whether either of these are still available, not sure, but as I said, I do not believe either is required anymore.

Show your vaccination information to your airline. If they like it, and I doubt at this stage that VAMS is not perfectly acceptable, then you'll unlikely need it again.

Yes.

And you only need it for entry.

What else would you use? This is the evidence Americans have. US QR codes are not synched with french systems. The only people who will look at this are your airline. We uploaded photos of our CDC cards before the flight and were not even asked to show them at the airport this spring.

In the fall we were asked to show them at the airport and again immediately after landing in Paris; this spring no one asked for vaccination evidence once we were on the plane. You no longer need the pass vaccinale to get into French venues -- you don't even need a mask except on transport although many people wear them in indoor venues.

my handwritten CDC card was quite acceptable in December, my wife's typed card gave the Delta system fits but we finally made it work

The only time we needed our CDC vaccine card was for the airlines. Our is actually linked in our Apple Wallet, which United accepted, but they also would have accepted a photo upload. We never showed it anywhere in France, nor were we even asked our vaccine status in any situation.

There are still some "Vaccine Pass" signs up for entry here and there, but it's clear they just have never been taken down.

Yes, I agree with the others. I showed my CDC card to the Delta agent at check in 3+ weeks ago and that’s the last time it’s been asked for. French passport control did not want to see it. I did the Belgium PLF prior to spending 8 nights in that country and received an email the day after I arrived saying I did not need to do anything else.

No one, and I literally mean no one but me, lol, was wearing a mask in Ghent, Brussels or Bruges (or Netherlands).
