CDC cards no good anymore on TGV

I got this message from SNCF this morning. CDC cards no longer accepted on TGV.

Regarding your request about the USA vaccine validity in Europe, I am afraid to inform you that they are not recognized if you’re not able to activate your health pass QR Code.

In this case, if you wish to board a long-distance train (TGV IC and international trains except Eurostar) you should have a PCR test done until 72h before the departure.

Wow.

I am really sorry Frank that the French authorities seem unable to get their act together to get you a health pass when you applied in plenty of time.

Here’s the irony. They don’t have enough staff to check all the trains, so one could perhaps take several trains and never get checked. I realize of course that it is absolutely unreasonable to plan a trip on this basis !!!

We just took a handful of TGVs and no one ever asked us for our vaccination card or pass. They did on the Ouigo train but not TGVs.

I plan to make "minor" changes on my application forms daily and resubmit. I may get lucky.

I fly to London tonight. I'm taking the Eurostar next Tuesday and then switching to a TER train to Bayeux. TER trains are okay. I was then planning to go to Alsace. TER to Paris then TGV to Strasbrourg. If am an not permitted to board the TGV in Paris, I will get a hotel room for a day or two and plan a flight to Italy. I was going to Italy after France anyway but I now may be going much earlier. Or maybe Spain.

I have been to France a few times and I think this is my last visit. The attitude of the French government just has to make it difficult for everyone.

Now you know how the British feel.

Unbelievably, I resubmitted--again--this morning and got my QR code in ten minutes.

I think they decided they had tortured ME enough.

Perhaps it has something to do with submarines?

@ CaliMom....Good to hear that riding the TGV was no problem for you. Hopefully by next summer but who knows, fewer obstacles pertaining my travel plans in France but basically no matter anyway.

On various trips in France I have seen how SNCF conductors can be more, shall we say, "accommodating " than one would expect....just depends.

We just were on the SCNF from Menton to Nice and the police boarded for a vaccination proof check. Our Ontario print outs, along with passports, sufficed. The police were really quite nice, actually.

Haha, the US government is no better than the French. And Boris Johnson?

Hooray you got your QR code!
I had the same experience as you did Frank. Resubmitted for the umpteenth time with a comment and got it in 10 min 8:55 am yesterday, France time.

Congrats on your PS. Way back earlier, resubmitting worked for me as well. I am beginning to think early applications simply were deleted.

Yay to Frank 11 and Susan!
That's great news that your passes finally came through.
I leave in just over 2 1/2 weeks and haven't even tried yet. Maybe next week?
Wish me, and everyone else, good luck!
