We followed all the rules to get the QR code with no luck, and some stress on my part.
However, after 3 days in Paris, including a trip up the Eiffel Tower and to the Louvre our CDC card is never balked at. We’re so grateful. And we feel so safe as only the vaccinated are in these popular sites and EVERYONE wears a mask indoors!
I won't be heading overseas for a while, but thanks for posting. Getting "live" updates from those already on the ground is a huge boost for those of us longing to head over there.
I hope you provide more updates when you can
I want to add my appreciation for these "live" updates. We're scheduled to visit mid-November, and will hopefully have a QR code by then, but it's a great relief that the CDC card is being accepted.
Out of curiosity - have you had success with CDC card at restaurants as well?
I to appreciate the info. Hopefully by my end of November trip to France everything will be up and running smoothly or as best as it can.
You have my appreciation also. We're (hopefully!) going on October 26th.
Many, but not all restaurants ask for the CDC card. we’ve only had one actually look closely at the dates (and noted that my husband got his 2nd dose on his birthday). Most just glance and say oui oui.
There are Americans here, but not a lot of crowds. We went to the Saint-Chapelle today with ZERO people in line (no advance ticket) and took photos inside with no one in them.
Our biggest obstacle is wearing a mask inside (it gets hot), especially in The Louvre. I bought a silk mask, but it’s good to remember to dress in layers to account for the wearing a mask for extended time periods inside.
Diane, What a wonderful moment in Saint-Chapelle! Enjoy these rare moments. In the midst of all the chaos are some moments are beautiful.
Thanks Diane, it confirms what others have been saying. I’ll be there next month. We wear masks everywhere here in the SF Bay Area so it’s no problem for us. I would even if not required.
Thanks for the update Diane! Very comforting. My personal issue is that I go straight from my flight landing at CDG to a TGV then OUIGO train and that's what I'm worried about!
I emailed them to find out if they take the CDC card. We'll see; I'll report back here for others.
Calimom- We are doing the same thing from the airport to Reims. We still do not have our codes so hopefully there will not be an issue. I am interested to hear what they tell you. We leave next Tuesday.
@CaliMom - we are on the TVG Ouigo train to Annecy and had no problem with our CDC card. She looked at both vaccination dates and gave us a blue wristband. All is good!
Diane!! Thank YOU SOO MUCH for this update. We have not received QR codes yet and are set to take a TGV Ouigo train tomorrow from CDG. Your report makes me feel much better :) Hope you are having a wonderful trip!
@Williams5 - safe travels!! I recommend layering. Sitting on the train on the sunny side of the window with a mask on and it is WARM! So glad I have a tank top on (was able to take second layer off). We also picked a picnic, allowing us to take our masks off.
Thank you Diane!
William5 please let us know! Best of luck to you 😊
We depart on 16 Sep for Paris. I have received one QR for our party and waiting on the other two. Encouraging to know that CDC cards are being accepted.
Not sure if the statistics I'm reading on the passe sanitaire application page are correct, but if it's true that there have now been more than 30k applications and only around 500 have been processed, I guess I'd better be prepared to get an antigen test upon arrival or hope that my Canadian vaccination proof is accepted! I leave in 8 days.
I don't see any statistics on the numbers of passes issues. It seems well more than 500, just based on anecdotal evidence. We both received ours.
I was told by friends and acquaintances that they were able to get their CDC cards accepted. However, I did see service refused in a restaurant to someone with a non-conforming test certificate and no pass sanitaire. 100% of restaurants checked and verified the pass.
Anecdotal only, I know, but when I left a favorite restaurant today after lunch, I stopped and asked them if they were also accepting CDC cards (in addition to the “real” health pass/QR code) — the guy didn’t hesitate in responding yes that they were accepting those too.
Piggybacking off Diane's post - we arrived in Paris today and thought I'd share my experiences in case helpful to others.
Landed at 925 and through customs by 1015. They only looked at our passports, nothing else.
On a Ouigo train now to Avignon (about 20 minutes from AVG station- no one has asked to see tickets, cdc card or pass sanitaires (my husband has his, I do not).
Very pleasant travel day thus far!
Thank you William! Would love updates from Avignon if you have time. We are off to Paris then Aix on Sunday / Monday!
