A friend and I are taking a one week river trip starting [30/Sept] and ending[06/Oct] in Bordeaux. We would like to visit the Lascaux cave [reproduction] and perhaps some other caves in the region either before or after the river trip. Are there any one or two day tours to this area from Bordeaux [or information on a local travel agency that might arrange such a thing]? One of us is coming from London and could fly into Bergerac. Are there organized tours from there? Or is there any information on private guides? Thanks for any advice.
Instead of an organized tour that departs from Bordeaux, I'd take a direct train to Bergerac (1.5 hours) or Sarlat (under 3 hours), from where you can access several private guides, taxis, or tour companies, such as www.cavesandcastles.com or www.ophorus.com; see others listed on p.484-5 of Rick's France book.
