Catacombs and Eiffel Tower tickets - online

I'm going to attempt to purchase tickets for both the Catacombs and the Eiffel Tower ahead of my trip to Paris at the end of June so I can try to minimize my time in lines.

I've heard that the Eiffel Tower tickets go on sale exactly 90 days out. I've been reading some of the other topics on this forum here and I thought I heard someone mention that the website was a little behind with this 90-day out for the Eiffel Tower. Anyone know anything about that?

I've been periodically checking the website for the catacombs to see when their June tickets will open up. For the past few months they've had tickets available through the end of May. As the month of February began, still the June tickets didn't open up. I thought that the month of June might open up once March started, but I still see only tickets available through the end of May. Does anyone know how the Catacombs makes their tickets available? Do they open up a month at a time?

Thanks,

Julie,

I can’t help you out with the Catacombs but I do know that tickets for the Eiffel Tower sell out rather quickly.

As far as I remember ET tickets usually become available 92 days in advance, so keep checking.

I do recall buying our tickets in March for our June visit back in 2016.

Do search the Eiffel Tower website and be prepared to buy your tickets, once they become available, by pre-registering. I also called my bank, in advance, to notify them that I’d be using my credit card for a charge in France.

Enjoy your trip!

The Eiffel Tower site is currently not functioning properly -- I'd start checking well ahead like mid March for June so you can see when it start working again. Right now it is not possible to book for May or later. When the tickets go up they are gone in minutes, so be looking at 8:30 am Paris time 92 days out and be ready to jump.

Wow. That's way more than I paid for our advanced tickets direct from the Catacombs, even paying extra for the advanced bit.

I just checked my records and it appears that I purchased our catacombs ticket a month out last year. I tend to plan in advance, reserve in advance, and purchase tickets in advance. The fact that I got them a month before we went, tells me that that was when they were available. I vaguely remember having to try numerous times before I was finally able to buy them. And testing dates and figuring out that way how far ahead they sold. I do the same with restaurants. I know...I know...

The Paris catacombs is one of the places that you absolutely want advance tickets, in my opinion. When we did it, you had to choose a time, and there was a window of time within that time that you had to show up.

We just purchased tickets for the Catacombs for July though Headout.com. They also offer Skip the line tickets for the Eiffel tower. They list their prices right on the site, and they have an app. I also emailed them with a question, and they were very quick and helpful with a response. I have had a friend travel to NY an use their site with no issues. Best of luck!

Be advised advance tickets just bypass the ticket buying line, you will still wait to go through security and wait in lines for the elevator.
Online tickets are limited in numbers as they always hold back tickets to sell at walk up windows.

If you are willing to skip the summit:

Make a reservation at one of the restaurants(located on 1st and 2nd level) with no additional access to other floors. They have their own entrances away from the regular lines.

Buy a stairs only ticket that allows access up to the 2nd level(not available for advance purchase, buy when you arrive) . You will not have to wait in long lines for the elevator up.

If you buy a ticket with access to 2nd level only, you may be able to buy tickets to the summit on the second level ticket booth if its not too crowded at the summit.

As a last resort, book with a tour company that buys 'skip the line' tickets for you. HUGE MARKUP and you still wait for elevators.

Best advice, if you don't have advance tickets is to go late at night.

Regarding Jill’s comment:

If you buy a ticket with access to 2nd level only, you may be able to buy tickets to the summit on the second level ticket booth if its not too crowded at the summit.

Please be aware that one cannot buy a ticket to the summit on the 2nd level anymore.
One must buy the desired ticket before going up the tower via elevator or stairs.

Enjoy your time in PAris!

I can help you with the Catacombes:
The official website lists the full rates as 13 EU and if you want to go to the archeological crypt, it is 17 EU. Combined, if you want to get the audioguide, is 29 EU. You should bring a drivers' licence.

The official website also says that you should not bring backpacks or messenger bags that are not more than 40 x 30 cm.

Eiffel Tower tickets are now up through May 8th if anybody is waiting on May. I'm still waiting for the 26th . . . I sent a FB message will see if they reply.

They came on the site sometime between 8:30 am - 10 am Paris time.

And now they are up through the 16th. (An hour later)

Bit by bit over the past few hours they have been adding May to the calendar for the Eiffel Tower. So I would keep an eye out for June.
