getting off a barge boat in Castelnaudary and need to get to Avignon. RailEurope says it will take 13+hours to get there by train. What is the best way to get there? By car?

Driving is only around 3 hours. But it appears there are trains that will take far less time than you say. Check Trainline (https://www.trainline.eu/) or the official SNCF web site for a better source for train schedules. Don't use RailEurope.

3hrs is ridiculous.
Google Maps said 2:45 for the drive, so I upped it to 3 figuring that Google always understates the time a little.

He might have meant that 13 hours is ridiculous and it just didn't get typed correctly. It's just not that far to drive. It would be great if you could rent a car, as there is SO much to see on the drive!
