Cassis and Saint Tropez accommodation

Hi guys. Rick recommends Cassis but there is nothing reasonably priced in terms of accommodation; looking at May 28 for one night. In exchange there are plenty of options in La Ciotat and a few in Hyeres and of course lots in Toulon and Marseille.

Saint Tropez, I recall there are a few places that Rick recommends but don't recall which ones

Thanks

St.Tropez will be expensive like Cassis, perhaps even higher prices.

28 May is the day before a major holiday.
La Ciotat is a good alternative base. I really like it. It's a bit gritty with a small shipyard right in town, but only just a bit after years of major improvements and renovations - and seeing the cranes against the cliffs in the background is quite dramatic IMO. There are lots of cute shops and restaurants in town (don't sit at any random restaurant on the harbor though. Check reviews first, some are very bad), and pretty coves at le Mugel and Figuerolles. You'll find few foreign tourists.

The Best Western by the harbor is really a prime location, and it has good rates for the 28th. French Best Westerns are much better, fancier hotels than their US counterparts.

Well, I ended up finding accommodation in Cassis and it is really beautiful. What was not beautiful at all were the hordes descending on that small port (I agree I was part of it). Could not find parking, ended up leaving the car overnight at the parking des Gorguettes, taking the minimum with me for the night and taking the shuttle bus to the port. But it was worth it :-)
