Has anyone stayed in a hotel in Cassis lately? We have looked at a couple in the Rick Steve's book and can't decide which one is best. Anyone stayed there lately? Also we plan to stay a night in Marseille at the hotel near the train station and just tour the town and leave the next day for Cassis. Would that be a good plan? Has anyone stayed at the Ibis hotel there?

Forget staying at the train station in Marseille. It's connected to the rest of the city really well by metro. Stay on the Vieux Port. I stayed at the Hotel Beauvau by MGallery and it was absolutely magical. Cassis is nice, but I don't know if it warrants staying a whole day. I went there as a day trip from Marseille. Even though I spent 5 days in Marseille and surroundings, I still didn't see everything.
