Carnival in Nice, France

My husband and I will be flying into Marseilles, France next month and taking the train into Nice to kick off Carnival. I'm looking for hotel recommendations that won't break the bank but close in vicinity to all the action. Also, any tips for Carnival. We are thinking about taking the train to Monaco for a few hours to cross it off our list. We thought about Cannes as well but not sure if we will have time. We are thinking of staying our last night in Marseilles so we are close to the airport. If anyone has hotel recommendations for that as well it would be great. We arrive Friday evening and fly home Monday late morning. Thanks!

Our first trip to Nice was specifically for Carnaval (French spelling) and we really enjoyed itH

We stayed in the Mercure (Accor brand) Hotel Marche aux Fleurs which is across the street from the Promenade des Anglais. There were metal grandstands on the street set up for those who purchased seating tickets. However, we were able to open our first floor windows and have great views. We also had our rooms filled with confetti but that is another story.

Another year, we stayed at a Barcolo hotel and had a room on an upper floor. That gave us an entirely different perspective to see the parade. My sister was with us that year so she and I went down to the street level to take some pictures.

Each day's parade is slightly different. Try not to miss the parade of flowers. We had taken a short trip to Monaco and got back too late to see all of the parade.

In terms of other hotels, you could check the parade route and then see what hotels are on the route.

Have fun! Do you need your suitcases to be carried? :)
