If so, get to Paris before Sept. 1 since these little devils will be banned. Unless there's an appeal or such.

I hate those darn things blocking sidewalks. I'll be glad they are gone. IF they were parked in the bays like bikes are that would not bother me but littered all over the sidewalks are a pain in the behind.
Félicitation! I wish NYC banned them!! Some idiot set our building on fire last November with cheap chargers she used for her e-scooters.
LOL, Pam and Continental! How much do you REALLY hate those things? Not sure we got the message. 🤣
I used them quite a bit when they were first deployed around Paris, but it's expensive, hence 2 people riding on 1 scooter, unstable on the ubiquitous cobblestones (although newer models are apparently better), and positively lethal on wet pavement. I scared myself enough times to stop using them and I won't miss them.
the sooner they are gone the better.
I'm sad for folks with little money because they can be cheaper than owning or renting a car or using a bus, but so many users are inconsiderate.
People in wheelchairs and rollators are prisoners in their own homes because they are left blocking the pavement (sidewalk) and those folks can't get around or through them. Personal experience here.
Not too long ago a pensioner fell and was fatally injured trying to get out of his wheelchair to move one so he could go to an appointment.
Sorry - decent idea, poorly implemented.
It's the rentals that will be gone, eliminating the littering problem. There will still be privately-owned ones, so we can still get hit while walking on the sidewalk.
in the UK
nominally the personal ones are "legal" here only on private land.
Illegal on the Queen's Highway, illegal on a footpath or pavement/sidewalk, illegal anywhere but on private land.
If the rental ones went the cops would have less chance to turn a blind eye.
I used them the last two times I was in Paris. Enjoyed zipping on the road down below along the Seine.
we have them all over LA, the irony is that they were pitched as being the perfect solution for the "last mile" of travel. But the only people who use them are tech bros and bro-ettes who are perfectly capable of walking that mile, it does nothing to help the poor or those with mobility issues who could really benefit from them.
