Hi - I have bought the books and have been reading the RS Forum diligently for the last 7 months as I plan a 5 week trip. We fly into Barcelona, there for a couple days, and then was so excited to head to Carcassonne on April 29th. Staying overnight. Magical! Until the Greve. We are now thinking of canceling Carcassonne and will go straight by train to Arles. This makes me so, so sad, but there just don't seem to be any trains from Spain to France on strike days. I've been searching 9704, 9702 on the TGV lists of what's running. Has anyone traveled from Barcelona to France on a strike day? And yes, I would adjust everything back but May Day in Arles and Provence Tour on May 2 limit flexibility. Thanks!!
I believe the problem is that SNCF is not showing ANY trains on strike dates -- they won't know which trains are running until within 24-48 hours before. It's now the 11th in France -- If you look at the next strike dates (April 13-14) you can see how many / which trains will be running on your route. This doesn't mean they will be running on the date you want, but you can see if some trains might be running.
Thank you. That is my concern. I can stand on a train packed with others, but it seems like no trains are running on many days from Spain.
