Carcassonne to Perpignan catch the train to Barcelona

I am trying to figure out if we can stay 2 nights in Carcassonne or only 1 night. We have a train reservation to take the train to Barcelona from Perpignan at noon. We have to also drop off our rental car at the train station. Seems like a lot to do as well as drive from Carcassonne to Perpignan

Thanks Matt. I decided to only stay 1 night in Carcassonne. I've booked us into a hotel in Perpignan that is adjacent to the train station.
