We are going to visit Carcassonne on April 28 (a Friday), and are wondering where to park. I looked at the tourist information website, and it lists 3 municipal car parks: Parking P1, Parking P0, and Parking P2. The first two are on the Narbonnaise gate side, and the last one is on the Aude gate side. All cost the same. I am wondering which one is the best bet, in terms of finding a parking space, and distance from the "medieval" city of Carcassonne. Thanks. Peter
I have never had a problem finding a place to park. Arrive as early as possible. You might need to drive around one or two lots to find a spot. I'm only familiar with the two lots as you approach from the east. One is on the left and a bit of a walk, but not real far, to the entrance. The other is on the right and a short distance from the entrance.
FYI, the climb up to the Aude gate is steep and coblestone. The Narbonnaise gate is an easy gentle slope. You might want to look on that side first. We had a gite below the Aude gate.
