Hi,
I will be in Carcassonne, France in mid-May, and I am wondering if it's worth taking some kind of organized tour and, if so, what might a good recommendation be? I am interested in touring the castle with a group.
Thanks!
Kurtis
Hi Kurtis, I visited Carcassonne with a RS tour so can’t help you with a guide. There are several tours that come up when you search. There’s a 2 hour tour through Viator for $36 that looks like it would meet your needs, no personal knowledge. If you are a photographer or just like cool sights, stay after the crowds leave at night. The castle is lit up and looks amazing. Have fun!
The tourist information office offers tours English for a reasonable price.

Oliver Gee of Earful Tower did a FB live walking tour of Carcassonne that you could watch (may also be on his YouTube channel) - in part of it he discusses the tour HE took of the walled city earlier in the day.
My understanding is that you get access to other sections of the ramparts with the tour (that you wouldn't get to walk on otherwise) and sometimes access to a few inner parts of the actual chateau (depending on timing) as well as guide that shares the history of the walled city, the church, etc. We plan to pony up for the tour when we go in September.
