Carcassonne for Bastille Day

Has anyone here been to Carcassonne for the fireworks on Bastille Day?

I'm wondering if we would be able to see them from the canal near the train station? Or, do we have to fight the throngs of people to see them closer to the castle?

The train station is far away. The area around the Cité is quite large, so you should be able to find a nice spot along the river or in one of the open spaces on the Narbonne Gate side. I’ve seen photos of the fireworks. Lucky you!
