Car return at Marsaille airport

Already have a flight booked to leave this airport at 7 am to fly to Paris, then on to Cincinnati,Ohio .This was the only flight to connect to Paris flight.Hate the early flight ! We are staying in St. Remy .My question is about returning our rental car to the airport. Will probably have a Europcar rental ( booking soon through Auto Europe ) .I see on the Europcar web site that they have a branch at the airport but it does not open till 7 am - BUT they say “ retour 24 hours “ does that mean what I think it says - we can leave car there earlier than they are open ? Anyone done this ?

Yes, it means that you leave the car in the lot and use the key drop off.

I would call them from CDG to confirm all went well.

Looks like an hour drive to airport. If we allow two hours before flight looks like we will leave St. Remy around 4 am .We have already booked our place in St. Remy - may see if we can drop a day there without penalty

Wondering if anyone has actually dropped off a car at that airport ? How far of a walk from Europe car drop off and airport entrance ? Like,if my son drops off suitcases and women at airport departure area and the takes car to car drop off,how far will he have to walk back ?

We did this several years ago, also very early, from Lourmarin. The ride is an adventure, mostly very busy freeways as you get closer. Just keep looking for the big airplane on the freeway signs and you’ll be fine. I dropped the car, left the key in the box, walked a short distance to the terminal and that was it. I hated the idea of leaving a car without someone seeing it as I hear these horror stories about people getting late charges for damage. Just be sure you’ve taken photo’s of any dings the day before.

We fly in and out of Marseille a lot because we visit our daughter who lives in Provence. And we have rented a car from Kemwel/Auto Europe very frequently. We've used Europcar and Hertz. The car rental office is right there at the airport parking lot. Just a minute or two walk to the terminal. You can see the rental offices when you walk out of the terminal.

And we have never had to drop off our luggage in a different building, and then walk to another building. Check-in and luggage drop off are in the same building as the gates.

It is amazing to me all the travel advice you folks have given me,all within a few hours ! We have traveled a lot to Europe- both on tours and independently- but I still get nervous about “ details “ that could ruin an otherwise awesome trip .
