We are planning to return a rental car at CDG, then take a train from the airport to Montpellier. I want to make sure we have sufficient time to find the car return and transfer to the train station, but I can't seem to find that info on the internet. Also, can we walk from the car rental return to the station, or must we take a shuttle? Any advice on logistics would be welcome.

From google street view, appears not far, but I have no ideas about walking. The multi story building in the back ground that looks like the prow of a ship is the Sheraton Hotel. That is on top of the TGV station.

What's the sequence of events for returning the car to CDG? Returning cars to CDG can be a pain - the road signs can be confusing, and returning the car fully fueled can be a challenge. I would look for a more convenient place to do so and catch the train.

I understand how to return a rental car. I realize navigating the roads through CDG is complicated--I've done this twice before. My main concern is the distance between the rental car return and the TGV station and whether it's walkable. So input from anyone who has experience at CDG doing exactly this would be useful.

I did more digging and think I have it figured out. Rental car returns are on level 1 between T2A/C and T2B/D. Train station is also on level 1 between T2C/E and T2D/F. The terminals are connected with an interior walkway, so we should be able to walk after returning the car, and the distance looks doable. Thank you all for your input.
