Hi there. I have a car rental question, and I'm hoping someone on this forum might have experience and advice! In October, three friends and I are going on a week-long hiking tour in the Bordeaux area that will end in Barsac. We then plan to rent a car and drive to Chambord, then on to Bayeux, Normandy area, etc. We will return the car in Caen or Bayeux and take the train to Paris at the end of our trip.
Question: is it possible to rent a car anywhere near Barsac? If not, is it possible to rent a car in Chambord?
If 'yes' to the Chambord question, is there a train we can take from Barsac to Chambord?
We would like to avoid travelling back into Bordeaux, only to rent a car and leave.
Any advice you can provide will be greatly appreciated! I have emailed the hotel where we're staying in Barsac, and they have not replied. My tour operator is on vacation for another week. :P

Barsac and Chambord are both fairly small villages, so I doubt that there is any car rental in either. And a quick check of the Auto Europe web site does not show either village as a rental location.

Bordeaux is your best bet, no matter what. It's only 30 miles and 30 minutes from Barsac by train. Any train trip will take you through Bordeaux, too.
