Hi all, I would like to rent a car in Lille and drive drive drive. Can I drop the car off anywhere in France? Say Toulouse or Tours? Merci!

We rented in Lille - don't remember the company -- and dropped in southern France. The drop fee was 50 euro.

Go to Autoeurope and get some bids. Then talk to someone at either Autoeurope or Europcar. Ask them what they would recommend. I have received great advise from these two organizations that has saved me on my rentals. Car rentals are considerably more expensive since Covid arrived.
I have not been charged a dead head fee when renting in France. A dead head is dropping at a location other than where you rented. I have been hit with a downtown drop fee, or airport fee. Those fees happen even when returning to the same location.
A few regions of France have toll-free roads. The rest will charge you to use.

I expect you already know about the tolls on the Autoroutes and the Normandy Bridge, and requirement for all drivers to have either an official translation (from a government panel) or for simplicity an inexpensive AAA (or your national equivalent) IDP?
