I am looking at picking up a car at the SNCF station in Tours (we will be arriving from Paris). We would be staying in Amboise and will be visiting some of the major chateau in the Loire. I am thinking about a 2 or 3 day car rental. Does anybody have recommendations as to what car company would be the best in the way of price (I know it will not be unlimited KM)

Car hire prices are like airline ticket prices - they change continually and you're never really comparing like to like. Your best bet is to check prices for hire from Saint Pierre des Corps and just keep comparing. AutoEurope does a pretty good comparison and I have used them, but I have also rented direct from all the big companies. For the record, hire from a supermarket is probably cheapest, but getting to and from the supermarket can be a hassle.
Make sure you have parking at your accommodation in Amboise because [arking can be a real issues - as can traffic.
i second the suggestion of looking at Autoeurope. There are a few rental companies at the train station so pricing should be competitive. You could also look at something like Orbitz to compare prices.
