We will be renting a car after a few days in Paris.....heading south east....dropping of at Munich airport 17 days later.
We are looking for an "outskirts" location to pickup car. Can anyone advise if Gare-du-Lyon or Ivry-sur-Seine is far enough from the center to comfortably navigate our way out? Your advise is appreciated!!
Merci beaucoup!!
A lot depends on you & your comfort driving in unfamiliar places and/or heavy traffic. Ivry-sur-Seine is outside the Peripherique so could be a little less congested - depends on the route you take from there.
If you are not comfortable with busy city driving I would say go farther out from the city center - do you have a route planned?
And you are aware of Cross Border Drop Fees???
You do not want to pick up a car at Gare de Lyon. It is near the center of the city and there are many one-way streets jammed with cars. I'd take public transportation to one of the airports and pick up my car there. Both are connected to the autoroutes (superhighways). I also agree that there can be very high fees for picking up your car in one country and dropping it off in another.
