Can anyone recommend a good car rental place in Nice?
Try autoeurope.com or autoeurope.fr Sometimes the fr has lower prices, sometimes the com, depending on...?
It's a broker with contracts with several large car rental companies.
Again, thank you Bets!
Many of the large international companies like Sixt, Hertz, Avis, etc have locations both at the airport and in-town (near the train station and close to the Promenade near Le Meridien). ETA -- if you chose an in-city location please note there is an express tunnel that provides a much quicker exit from near the base of the Promenade du Paillon and Promenade des Anglais up to the A8 highway.
@Bets, thank you for the tip to check AutoEurope.fr. Looks like the car we are wanting to rent is about $150 less on the French site. I am just wanting to make sure that the "super cover" is the same as the "0 deductible" here in the states. It looks like it is but the devil is in the details. Does anyone have any insight on this?
Jeanine--be sure you are comparing in the same currency.
WE have played and played with this all day trying to find a decent price for a car rental and have decided we just aren't going to. Over $500 for three days from Nice dropping in Avignon, and if we did just one day picking up and returning in Avignon it was $200. That just seems like a lot for a day. We may just spend all our time in Nice and forget this area. Stick to the trains and just fly back to Paris.
That’s a good plan, too. There is plenty to see and do along the coast.
Be sure to check the Easy Jet prices, as well as Air France.
that's a good way to avoid the car dings so common to Nice because there are more cars than places to park them
