car rental in France : renting or leasing ?

Hi !
We will make a 38 days trip In france in july-August. We will need a car for 29 days (no car needed in Paris and Lyon). We have to take the car in Paris and return it in Lyon. We live in Canada so prices here are in CDN $$

We usually rent thru autoeurope and always have got good price, but the car industry is not the same for the last 2 years so prices have jumped.

We need an automatic (well we dont 100% need it, but it would give us peace of mind) so now our options are :

1) Classic rental that goes around 1900-2100$. Basic insurance (we got a CC that covers damage). We can take the car and return it near our airbnb in Paris and Lyon (so less transport cost, and since we are 4 ...)

2) Leasing (achat-rachat). we could get a brand new car for something like 2200$. full insurance unlimited mileage, no need to give the car back with full tank. But it means to go to CDG airport and Lyon airport because that service is only avaible there. The avaibility of the car is not 100% warranty, but 3 weeks before if the car is not avaible they will help me find other options (classic rental or another model)

We are open to any ideas/tips ! Thanks !

You have more than one option for a lease: Renault and Peugeot/Citroen.
You have several options for pick up in Paris: Orly, CDG, and Porte Maillol.

TT is the company that does all the transactions. AutoEurope and Renault USA (CA in your case) are just two of the many agencies that sell the lease buyback contracts. You can shop around to see who can give you the best deal. Delivery depends on factory production that has been interrupted these past years. This is your car for the duration, and you are responsible for it's care. I don't think it's replaced if you wreck it

Renting: look at AutoEurope.fr as well as point com.
You might get a better price renting in euros from the French branch than in $ from the US branch. But check about insurance coverage.

Hi Bets and thanks fo the answer !

I cant find any lease from Porte Maillol (which would be great for us !) Which one allows it ?

Can I lease directly thru TT ?

Thanks once again !

TT has a website. I priced their site, but their offer came out higher than an agent. Yours could vary. AutoEurope does the Peugeot Citroen. Renault Eurodrive does the Renaults and one other brand. I get Google hits for a lot of companies acting as agents.

Porte Maillol may be a thing of the past; you pick up and drop off at a TT agency. Porte Maillol was one of the sites. AutoEurope, Eurodrive are only contract sellers, selling TT contracts.
Our last lease was in 2020, a Renault that ended up sitting in a garage due to Covid lockdown and closings.

I reserved a Peugeot for 29 days and was surprised at the ease of the transaction. Brand new vehicle and with the insurance thrown in it was a no-brainer. Used Kemwel as the rental agent.
