We will be flying from Venice to Nice. We want to pick up a car in Nice and will have it for 10-14 days. We will end in Paris and would like to either drop the car off outside of Paris (to avoid the city) in a town w/easy access to a train into Paris, or drop it in Paris proper, depending on how easily accessible the location is. We will have luggage with us. We do not know where we will be staying, yet.
Any ideas or advice? We are senior citizens, avid travellers, but also concerned about distance walking w/luggage.
I'd suggest dropping the car at Orly Airport and taking a taxi to your hotel in Paris. Fixed price of 36 EUR to the Left Bank, 45 EUR to the Right Bank.
You could drop the car at CDG or Orly airports—easy driving, good RER/train links into Paris with minimal walking. Another option is Versailles or Marne-la-Vallée, both with direct trains into the city. If you don’t mind city traffic, Gare de Lyon is convenient with luggage since trains and taxis are right there.
Thanks to both of those who responded. I really appreciate it!
