We are wondering if we need to rent a car in Colmar to get to wineries... if so, best agency. If not, bus or train transportation?

You can get to a lot of the wine villages by bus, and a few by train. The buses are all by the train station. You might do a little research before hand on what wineries you want to visit. The advantage of going by public transportation, of course, is you get to swallow. That may technically defeat the purpose of the tasting, but what the heck.
