For part of our trip we are going from Versaille and want to visit vineyards for a few days followed by Normandy for several days. then to London. Thinking about renting a car, but not sure best place to pick up and drop off. I was considered using just trains, but really think we need a car. Any suggestions would be so appreciated. Thanks

There are several car rental locations in Versailles. For the drop off, I would either drop off in Caen or Le Havre or wherever there are direct trains to Paris (depending of where you go in Normandy) and take a train to Paris or drive to La Defense drop the car off there and take a taxi to Gare du Nord. Of course, this all assumes that you do not want to drive in Paris and drop the car off at Gare du Nord.
