Car rental - France to UK

Would like to rent at CDG drive to Calais or ferry to UK and get a right hand drive car in the UK. Finding it difficult because Alamo, for example, says no one ways. Any suggestions on how I can rent a left hand drive car in France then get a right hand in the UK? Thanks a lot.

The only way I can see this being done is two separate rentals. One to be returned in France as you leave, the second to be picked up in the UK when you arrive.

You will find few, if any, agencies willing to rent one-way across the Channel. The cars would have to be returned to the continent at significant expense. So even if you do find an agency willing to do it, they will charge you an exorbitant fee for it.

I assume you wish to drive in France to see rural sites on your way. Why not rent a car in France, drop if off, take a ferry or Eurostar, and rent a car in England?

The easiest, least expensive and most practical solution as mentioned by the others would be to rent cars in each country. Note that it's highly advisable for each driver listed on the rental form to have an International Driver's Permit for driving in France, which is used in conjunction with your home D.L. In lieu of that, a certified translation of the terms of your license in French is also accepted.
