Has anyone had car rental experience in Mantes La Jolie? I anticipate taking the train from Paris to Mantes La Jolie and renting a car for our time in Normandy. I have read that there are 2 stops in Mantes. Which one is closest to the car rental locations?

As you have heard there are two train stations in Mantes La Jolie. I don't know where every car rental is in the town but I do know that the Sixt location is across the street from Gare Mantes La Jolie as is the Enterprise location. Only one train, the Transilien J, goes to Gare Mantes whereas you can take the J, Transilien N, a TER train or a TGV train to Gare Mantes la Jolie so I tend to think that all the other care rentals locations are closer to that station.

Definitely Mantes La Jolie station! Plus, more trains stop there. You can take the train either from Montparnasse or from St Lazare stations in Paris, depending on what is closer to you - bearing in mind that the journey is faster from St Lazare.
