Car Parks in Normandy and Alsace areas

Hello,
We will be traveling to France soon, first time road trip through Normandy and Strasbourg/Colmar areas. My main concern with having a car on this trip is the parking. Any tips of where and how to find car parking would be much appreciated. Will be spending several nights in Bayeux, one night at MSM, and 3 nights in Rouen. Then just day parking in the Colmar/Riquewihr areas. Any tips/information regarding the parking situations in these areas would be helpful.

Thank you,
Pedro

Travel Man,
Thanks for the info, but I have to ask since I have seen it in some other travel forums. What is the blue decal regarding parking and where and how do you get one? Would I even need it?

Thank you,
Pedro

For Bayeux, this PDF is the city's official parking flyer (this is the official website; both materials are in French).

On the map of page 2 of the PDF, you will see zones in green, blue and red:

  • Green: Free with no time limitations
  • Blue: Free, limited to 4 hours with the use of a European blue disc (applied 9:00-12:00, 14:00-19:00, Monday through Saturday)
  • Red: Paid, limited to three hours (applied the same hours as the blue parking). The rates for the red zones are €1 per hour.

Personally, when I was there in May we just parked the car in one of the large green zones (Espace St-Patrice, not to be confused with Parking Place St-Patrice, which is a red zone) over our entire stay, since we didn't need the car once we got to Bayeux. There was no problem, although we were careful as always to remove anything visible from the interior of the car since we were leaving it for several days.
