Previously leased through Europe by Car with good success but it longer exists. Rick now mentions either Auto Europe (Peugeut vechicles) or Renault Eurodrive (Renault vehicles) as options. Has anyone had any recent experience with either Auto Europe or Renault Eurodrive? Will lease for about 7 weeks this Fall and pick up / return in Paris.
Both programs have been around for a long time and I've never heard of any significant difference between them. As you probably remember, roadside assistance and other services are offered by Peugeot and Renault, instead of rental companies like Hertz and Avis. People here use Auto Europe all the time for short term rentals with better-than-average satisfaction. And the car that I leased years ago was a Peugeot.
I leased with either AE or Renault (I forget which) quite awhile ago, and everything went smoothly. I picked it up at Charles De Gaulle Airport and returned it to another location in France. I've seen many comments on this forum and Trip Advisor about leasing in France, and I've never seen anyone complain about their experience. I think that as long as you understand the rules at the start, there's little that can go wrong. Leased vehicles can be picked up only at certain cities that will be listed by the lessor, and can only be returned to those cities, although it doesn't have to be the same one.
We've dealt with https://www.autofrance.net/ several times. . I believe they're headquartered in New Jersey. We've used the Peugeot lease program and never had any problems. We've usually picked up at CDG and returned it somewhere in France.
We’re set to use AutoFrance this summer. Thanks for asking the question. And for the answers.
I leased through the Peugeot leasing program in 2010 - did it all online - picked the car up at Orly and dropped it off at CDG. It was as easy as a rental (maybe easier) and went very smoothly. It's the way to go if you are in Europe for 3 weeks or longer.
I had a good experience with Renault Eurodrive six years ago. We picked the car up at Orly and dropped it off in Bordeaux. Absolutely no problems. Exactly as advertised.
As far as I know, you can lease directly through either Renault or Peugeot. I chose Renault solely based on the vehicle choice that worked best for my family. Auto Europe is an option and many like using their customer service. I generally price every option, then decide.
