I am using captain train to book various excursions throughout France. Are tickets available to print from home? Would much rather have tickets in hand before arriving at station.
Thanks!
Print at home tickets are available for TGV's (High Speed trains) and some other main lines. For lesser routes, local trains, the Paris RER they are not. The deciding factor is if the ticket inspectors on that route are equipped with machines that can download data and read the QR code on the ticket.
If they are available on a route, Capitan Train will offer them.
Thanks very much!
Yes - you can print your tickets from home. I used them last year for our Germany/Austria and France trip. They also have an app which will alert you of updates. Once you are booked - they will email your confirmation including the "bar codes". I found them easier to use than the other sites.
My experience (just a little over a month ago) was that some tickets could be printed at home, but others had to be retrieved at a station. You don't have to wait to retrieve them at your departure station, but you can get them from any major station, including at CDG airport. Captain Train was great about sending me notification of delays as well as departure platforms.
