Canoeing in October in Dordogne

We love canoeing and were thinking of visiting the Dordogne region early to mid October to do some walking and hopefully daytrip canoeing. Since we would be flying into Paris, we thought we might stop in Dinan and Vannes along the way before we reached our eventual destination of Sarlat. We could also go directly to Sarlat and arrive earlier, more like the beginning of October and spend about 10 days there and then visit Dinan and Vannes on the way back to Paris. Understanding the weather will be cooler, but my main question for anyone who’s visited at this time of year is will rental places still be operating? I found one place that said they were open May-October and wondered if this would likely be the case everywhere. Many thanks if you are able to help.

You have not specified how you plan to get from Dinan/Vannes to Sarlat nor if you will rent a car which is essential in Dordogne (practically no public transport to visit interesting places and very rare taxis)

Dinan or Vannes are not at all "on the way" to go to Sarlat when leaving Paris.

The best option from Paris is to take the TGV train to Bordeaux and rent a car in Bordeaux to explore the Dordogne (Bordeaux→Sarlat = 2h30 drive)

Note that there is no direct train between Dinan/Vannes and Bordeaux (even less Sarlat). By car it will be at least 6 to 7 hours of driving

Here are some places usually open in October near Sarlat to rent a kayak. Contact them or go see them on site.
Depending on the day and the circuit, all kayaking activities will not necessarily be available

Yes we would definitely rent a car. I know that Dinan and Vannes aren’t directly on the way but they were just places we were considering . I’ll check out those canoe rental places you indicated. Thx!
