Cannes in July?

Not much in the France tour book about Cannes. Anything special to see in the city or is it best to tour along the coast? After the Loire tour, we're in Cannes on July 8 and a couple more days before going to Lyon.

Cannes is a mostly-modern seaside resort for the ultra-wealthy with little of interest unless you're a billionaire who likes to splash it around. I'd suggest pretty much anywhere else in the area.

I'm going soon and we are planning a ferry ride from Cannes to Ile St. Honorat. It's a small walkable island, wildlife, Monks/abbey/ vineyards. The pics and reviews look like it's an awesome day trip.

I personally would recommend some of the other small villages - Antibes old town w/ Provencal market, Picasso museum; or head to Eze Le Village or Grasse (Fragonard perfume museum and tour is wonderful), We loved visiting Villefranche Sur Mer and Cap Ferrat - a tour of the Villa Ephurish and gardens is a wonderful trip. Good luck
