Canal boat Brittany or Nivernais (Burgundy)

Hi,
We are a group of 6 adults, (age 55-65) who have all travelled to France before a few times. This time we are planning a canal boat trip for Sept 2025. We've narrowed down the options and want a one-way trip. We are now looking at either BUrgundy canal Nivernais (Corbigny to Joigny or Mignesses to Tannay) or Brittany (Glenac to Suce-sur-Erde).
It is difficult to decide. We want little towns/villages to cruise past and stop at for meals and would always be good to see a chateau or two and interesting geology is also good. Endless fields less so.
Both areas are appealing to us. I slightly lean towards Brittany just because I've never boon there and there are less locks but I'm not sure that where we'll cruise is as nice. Burgundy has Auxerre, and is easier to get to (but that doesn't really matter).

Any thoughts?

The Burgundy route looks more interesting. There really isn't much of note in northern Loire-Atlantique département...
Besides Auxerre, Clamecy is really cute, and some villages along the Yonne river (never been) look cute, such as Mailly-le-Chateau.
