Can you help me find the "perfect" hotel for our stay?

Hi. I have searched quite a bit for a hotel in Paris that is the style I want at my price point and I cannot find one. I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions. These are the things we would most like in a hotel. If anyone knows of a suggestion, it would be much appreciated!

1). Something with a very traditional French feel. (For an example of the style I'm looking for - the Hotel de LaTour Maubourg, but they are full for my dates in June. )

2). I either need a room that accommodates 4 people or I will need to rent two rooms. We will be staying three nights.

3) I would like to stay around $300 total each night (either for the room that accommodates four or for the two rooms together.

4)I would like to be somewhere in the 3rd-8th arrondissements (any of these are fine)

5) A smaller hotel. Think quaint- not a "cookie cutter" type hotel.

6) Air conditioning would be great, if possible.

Thanks to anyone who can offer a suggestion.

Is it four adults or are they children. Rooms will be much smaller than any you find in north america so four adults in one room will be unpleasant.

When is visit, hotels with ac sometimes do not turn it on except for july or august.

We are a group of four adults. No children will be with us.

Trip is 3rd week in June.

Have you searched with an engine like expedia or booking.com? That will let you narrow choices to your price point and the photo will be a quick look at the style of the hotel. You can then book directly with the hotel.

I have stayed in 3 places in Paris and enjoyed each. The rooms are small and quad rooms rare but if you are very close friends you can look in booking.com and filter for rooms or an apartment that will sleep 4.

  • The Royal Phare near the Eiffel quaint and affordable with a buffet breakfast.
  • The Hotel Dauphine St. Germaine in the 6th near the Seine. Small and very nice, quaint for sure and a nice breakfast buffet.
  • Hotel du Quai Voltaire which is right on the Seine with the best view in Paris. I got this one on sale and it is very French and quaint. We had a balcony on the 4th floor and the view was fantastic both morning and night.

Great memories! Enjoy Paris!!

Well, to me Traditional Paris is a deteriorating room with fabric tacked all over the walls to mask the holes in the plaster, and a narrow tub with a shower only on a hose ... In another case, there was a "student renovation" square shower curtain ring over one end of tub, in the only place where there was room to stand up in the tub. (That was the Violette.) Once you ask for air conditioning, which is not traditional, you are likely to have some renovation. You clearly want as little renovation as possible.

It's very small and hard to get into, but the Louvre Sainte Anne meets your needs. I know they have a triple. If you are willing to give up air conditioning, you might possibly find two rooms somewhere at $150 each. Your list of requirements is not entirely realistic - I can read between the lines that a certain level of Americano comfort is essential. I personally liked the Ille de France Opera, many years ago, and their sister properties nearby. But this was (Warning: Old Data) simply above the Rick Steves Rue Cler level - I mean three stars and better than anything on the Rue Cler. Check the TA reviews.

Would you consider an apartment? We loved our apartment in the 5th, on a quiet pedestrian street with all the charm of an old building and neighborhood but with a modern clean interior. Yes, you must be careful to make sure your rental is "legal", but it might be a good choice for your group.

Try the Hotel Excelsior Latin http://www.excelsior-paris-hotel.com/en/. You might be able to get 2 Classic doubles with a shower for around 140€ per room per night. It's a great hotel and they have AC and they do have a quad room, though I would take 2 doubles. Another suggestion is Hotel Augustin in the 8th http://en.astotel.com/hotel/augustin-hotel/overview. It's not quaint but it is not cookie cutter; it is more of a modern Parisian decor. It's part of a hotel chain that has good value properties but they are generally not in the prime touristy locations in the 3rd through 6th arrondissements. You'd have to check to see if they have AC.

Try Hotel Relais Bosquet in the 7th and Hotel Henri IV Rive Gauche in the 5th. They are both charming, but nicely renovated (modern bathrooms). You probably will not find hotels in Paris that can accommodate 4 adults unless you go to the large American-Style chain hotels like the Hilton or Westin.

You might look at either Familia Hotel or Hotel Minerve, both in the 5th and next door to one another.
I stayed at both many years ago and enjoyed them.
I just looked at their photos at Booking.com and they seem to be just as lovely as I remember.

Cheap clean and good ac with an excellant location, i can recommend Hotel St Pierre or Hotel Eugenie .

However rooms at st pierre are TINY , so you would need two doubles .
Rooms at Eugenie are a tiny bit larger , and have a mini fridge ( nice to store snacks and drinks )

Hotsl Diane is aslo excellant choice but may price too high for you.

And I would always recommend booking two rooms, adjoining or not, for the availability of two full bathrooms.

Another vote for Relais Bosquet. Nicely renovated, comfy beds, good bathroom, great breakfast buffet. The staff is lovely and caring. Great location too, around the corner from Rue Cler, easy walk to Metro and a nice stroll from the Eiffel Tower.

Do not forgo Air con you will need it. Otherwise you will need to leave the window open at night and deal with traffic noises, not to be underestimated . You will need 2 rooms to have any amount of reasonable space, and 2 bathrooms for 4 adults is must. Expect room to be very, very simple.

I am a huge fan of apartments but for a short stay a hotel will be tolerable.

The hotel I mentioned has been fitted with double-glazed windows and is equipped with central air-conditioning.

Plus, there's a lovely patisserie just on the corner...

I recommend Relais du Louvre which is very near the Louvre, is small and charming, and we had 4 in one room, and then we moved to a connecting room with 2 in each room. It was a perfect location and offered the quaint that you are looking for.

I just booked in Hotel Diana, a double for $127/nt, a great deal for July. It's in the Latin quarter, within walking distance to Notredame and Saint Chappelle. I also liked the fact that it's close to St Michel-Notredame, an RER B station which will make it convenient coming from CDG. I google mapped most of the sites, the Louvre and Orsay were the furthest away at 21-24 mins.

I had never heard of it before, as it doesn't show up on either TA or Hotels.com, when you do a search for available rooms. But if you search for it directly, it does show up and it has very good reviews. I don't think you'll find anything cheaper with AC and a great location. Thanks to everyone on this forum who suggested it to me.
