We are visiting Paris in late October and hope to visit the tower on our first full day in the evening (a Saturday). Tickets aren't quite for sale yet but looking at the week beforehand, it looks like the stairs+lift tickets are sold out. I'm hoping we'll be able to snag these tickets for the week we are there but if not, we'll hope to buy the lift only tickets. If we buy these, could we still walk up to the second floor? Or do we have to take the lifts? Thanks!
I think the stairs plus lift tickets are sold on site and there is rarely a long line for those; I'd just get them on site. Unless things have changed recently, they are not offered on line and certainly not this far in advance. You don't stand in the same line as those buying elevator tickets.
I agree with Janet—if you can't buy them online, wait till the day of. There are security checks at each level and there is a real possibility that you would not be able to walk up if you have a lift only ticket. I wouldn't take the chance.
