My husband and I are going to Paris for 7 nights. Staying with friend for 4 of those nights. Having a hard time deciding if we should venture off to another area. We were thinking maybe Rouen and stay for 1 night then back to Paris for the last 2. They have suggested to go to Loire. My husband likes castles (not necessarily palaces), but also likes the idea of Rouen. I also think Burgundy looks really beautiful, but again maybe a it too much. I like the bike tours there, but early April may not be the best weather for that. We would like our time to be relaxing and I wonder if going to Loire could be a bit of a challenge. I don't really want to rent a car and not sure about touring with a group. I don't want to feel like we are missing out if we use stay in Paris. This is our first time there! Any advice would be appreciated!

At that time of year, you could probably wait until the last minute to decide. However, I agree with the other answers on your other thread to stay in Paris and take a day trip. Are you really going to pack everything up and drag it somewhere for only one night, or are you leaving it at the friend's? Why not a day trip to Giverny or a day trip to Rouen? It's close enough that some people commute to work in Paris from there.
Rouen makes a great day trip.
I'd want 2 night in Burgundy, and yeah, early April can get a little hard core there, though some days are fine. (I spent a week riding in the region in early April.)
Maybe fly into Amsterdam, spend 2 nights, train to Paris, fly home? If you are looking for variety.
Visit Rouen as a day trip from Paris.
Choose either the Loire or Burgundy for s 2 night trip mid stay.
Perfect.
