No.. too many places.. this would just be a tour of train stations and airports.. you would have almost no time to see the places you list..

I almost think you may be trying to pull a joke on us..

In 7-10 days remember this.. when you spend 2 nights in one place that allows you only one full day to sightsee.

I think cities like London, Paris, Venice, are worth more then only one full day , don't you ?

When you change location you have to check out of hotel.. travel to train station or airport.. then travel to new destination.. then find next hotel... check in and drop off bags.. then you may have only 4-5 hours left to visit sights that day.. then the next day you would leave the city again.. no.. too fast and not practical.

With 10 days.. choose maximum of three or four places.. and even that will be a fast trip.

Paris , London , Venice would be my first choices..

No. I think people look at Europe as if looking at one US state rather than many countries spread across a wide geographical area. I agree with the previous poster that you would spend your entire trip checking in and out of hotels, boarding, riding and exiting planes and trains and not see a single thing. Assume you will visit Europe more than once in a lifetime and choose two or at most three of these locations and spend time enjoying where you are. You cannot enjoy Europe on a whirlwind tour. Your time is best spent concentrating on specific locations.

Thank you very much for your suggestion.Maybe i got little carried away and thought of seeing max place in less time.
I got little confused now, my friend want to visit prague.

Since this is my first trip to Europe would you mind suggesting which places we can cover in 7-10 days and spend time. and how much will it cost.
and if london is what you suggest then do we need separate Visa for that apart from schengen Visa.

You can visit them all if your goal is to check items off a bucket list, which you say is not the case. I would pick one city or at most two -- for instance, Paris and London, or Munich and Salzburg or Munich and Prague (or adding one Venice and Vienna) -- and spend my time really getting to know it or them. That's the way to establish memories that last a lifetime. Otherwise, your memories are more likely to be of European airports than of cities.

You shouldn't need separate visas for the UK and the European Schengen. Double check the government websites to be sure.
I am an American citizen and didn't need separate visas for my London, Germany travel.

If the OP needs a visa for travel in Europe then he will need separate visas for the UK and Schengen as they do not operate under the same visa system. A schengen visa will let you visit any schengen country -- but the UK is not party to this agreement. US citizens do not need visas for Europe; many country's citizens do. I do not know about the OP's country.

In 7 to 10 days you can see Paris and London. Fly into Paris and back from London (or vice versa). Between Paris and London go by Eurostar train. With 7 days that's the maximum you can do. With 10 days you can add one more city. But I would not.

I called French embassy and got to know that I can only apply for schengen visa before three months of travels.however hotel and airfare are comparatively low now....Any idea what's the chance of getting schengen Visa? Because if I book flight without getting Visa it might be prob....any suggestions

What is your country of citizenship? Maybe someone on the forum who also is a citizen of your country will know the answer to your questions.

I also think it makes a big difference depending on if it's 7 days or 10 days. With 7 days two cities max if the travel time between them takes the better part of a day. With 10 days three cities are certainly possible but they need to be easily traveled between by whatever means (flights, trains, bus, etc).

When you say 7-10 days, is that days on the ground in Europe or days away from home in Qatar? How many full days don't count the day you land or the day you fly home - unless you have a late evening flight) will you have in Europe? If you only have 4-5 days, stay in one city - probably Paris or London since you can take a day trip or two to vary the trip. If you have more days, split between two cities that are easy to travel between by train: London-Paris; Prague-Berlin, Prague-Vienna are examples. If you have 8 days or more "on the ground" then you can consider 3 destinations. Prague-Vienna-Budapest, Prague-Munich-Salzburg, London-Paris-Brussels (or Amsterdam). I don't think you should try for Venice unless you want to spend all your time in Italy.

If you are going to more than one city, fly open-jaw (into one place, home from another).

If your friend is set on Prague, look for one or two places (depending on how much time you really have in Europe) that are close.

I would stick to two cities, or maybe three if you end up having ten days. If you add a third city, add something close to the two other cities you choose rather than going a long way to another city. You should think about the transportation connections. Munich, Salzburg are east to connect, likewise London and Paris. Prague is an easy connection to Berlin (not on your list), to Munich might be less convenient. Don't get on a plane to travel between places, it will kill most of a day. Train connections of four hours of less are much more reasonable.

Perhaps Paris-Amsterdam-Brugge or Brussels with daytrip to Gent? Close to one another, easy transportation links.

Pack light.

You could easily do Munich, Salzburg, Paris, and London in ten days. You won't have a lot of time in each city, but it's enough to give you a taste of each.

If you're able to get a copy of Rick's Europe Through the Backdoor Guide (current edition), along with his city guides, or better yet, can access some of his incredibly helpful planning videos on Youtube, or in here, you should start to get an idea of what's realistic.

Generally, folks in here will tell you that four cities in 10 days is too much, and they're right. However, we did exactly that in ten days and had an amazing trip.

Was it enough time? Absolutely not! Are we glad we did it? Absolutely!

Happy travels!

Unless you're just checking off cities, you need to focus on 2-3 cities that are quickly transited. Otherwise you are just spending all your time traveling or trying to figure out the new place.

I just returned from taking my family to London/Paris for 9 days and it was not enough. Some suggestions.

London - Paris
Prague - Salsburg - Venice
Rome - Venice - Salzburg
Paris - Zurich - Milan

How much you spend on lodging depends on what your minimum comfort level is. Would you consider staying in a dorm room in a hostel with 3-5 others (same sex or coed are both options)? In London, you can get pretty cheap rooms at the university dorms. They are in great locations in the city, but are pretty spartan - no AC, no maid service. Is a hotel room with a shared bathroom ok?

You can certainly keep food costs to a minimum by buying at supermarkets rather than eating in restaurants. You can keep local transportation costs lower in London by getting an Oyster card. There's not much way to save in Paris, except to buy a pack of ten tickets (a "carnet") at a time. In London many of the top museums are free.

For traveling to/from London, you can buy tickets on Eurostar for €44.50 each way. These are the cheapest tickets, in limited amounts and usually get snapped up quickly. They go on sale about 120 days in advance. If you want to save, you need to choose your dates and book tickets soon. They are already on sale. The tickets are non-refundable and while you can change them for other dates, the costs are prohibitive. The price just goes up as time passes. The full price is about 3 times this amount.

I wouldn't! :( Sounds exhausting!

We are eeking by with 3 cities in 14 days, but will be back to Europe several times in the next two years, so not worried about seeing as much as we could.
