Can I purchase Navigo Decouverte pass upon arrival at Orly Airport?

We are arriving on a Wednesday morning, in late October, at Orly and will be going to stay close to city center. We will be using the local transportation (including to Versaille) during our 11 day visit and it appears that the Navigo Decouverte pass (x2) would be the easiest to use. However, am I understanding that you can't buy a Decouverte pass at Orly, so would have to purchase one after we get into Paris? How can we make this as simple as possible? Thanks.

As of 10 days ago, you could not buy a Decouverte Pass at Orly. If you are planning on taking mass transit from Orly into Paris, just buy the 13€ ticket plus the 2€ Navigo Easy card and take Metro Line 14 into Paris and then buy your Decouverte Pass at a metro station in Paris.

I am surprised because they are available at most metro stations and there is a metro station at the airport. We charged our NDs with passes on machines at Orly last fall but we already had the cards.

The Navigo Découverte is just a blank card, a tool that holds a fare. It accepts day passes, weekly passes (M-Sun), and monthly passes. Did you ask at the information center which is where I believe the fares and/or cards are sold?

Edit: Navigo cards and passes are available at the bus terminal at Orly 4, bay 5.

Thank you for your replies. It looks like we will take line 14 into Paris and then buy the Decouverte pass at a metro station as suggested. I had hoped that Orly offered that option.

I should have been more clear in my statement about not being able to buy a Navigo Decouverte at Orly. I meant that one cannot buy the card at the metro station for Line 14 at Orly — not at the vending machine or at the office. To me, the simplest way to Paris from Orly is to take Line 14 but since you can’t buy the Decouverte card there, you spend the 2€ to get the Easy card plus the 13€ for the ticket and figure out the Decouverte card later at a metro station in Paris. Of course, depending on where you are going in Paris and how many people make up “we,” it could be cheaper to take a taxi.

I don't believe you can't get the card at Orly -- although it certainly may be true but having to buy the easy and the ticket to Paris adds 15 Euro to your cost which would be covered as part of the ND weekly or monthly pass -- so it is a fairly large unnecessary expense.

Someone suggested that you can get the card at the bus station at Orly and the information office. I have trouble believing the metro window doesn't have it but I haven't tried that and the OP apparently did -- so perhaps so. but it is worth finding the offices at Orly that do have it. so maybe not metro office which is tres weird but definitely at the bus station at the airport.

by using the ND monthly pass to get from Orly to our apartment in Batignolles served by the 14 we paid about a third of the cost of our monthly pass compared to taking a cab which with luggage and our age would have been our other option. The 14 is accessible and so we had no stairs at either end -- Orly or Pont Cardinet.
