My friend and I bought an advanced ticket entry separately for Versailles for May 2. We both received our confirmation emails. Hers contained a link and she was able to print her ticket. My email didn't! I have been trying to email them back to no avail so I thought I would call. How can I call France without accruing a huge bill? Can I still buy a phone card somewhere? Help, please!
You might try setting up an account with Skype. Their rates to call landlines in France are pretty reasonable. I checked and it looks as if the following options are available:
- Calls to French landlines are 2.1 cents per minute
Calls to French mobile phones are 7.2 cents per minute plus a 6.6 cent connection fee
Note: You can tell if it's a mobile phone because mobile phone numbers start with 06 or 07 after the 33 country code.
If you'll be making many calls over an extended period, you may want to consider the following with Skype:
- 100 minutes of calls to French landlines and mobile phones for $3.60 per month
- Unlimited minutes for calls to French landlines and mobile phones for $14.40 per month
And no, I'm not affiliated with Microsoft (Skype's current owner).
You can go to almost any drugstore and buy a phone card that will work. Just load it with 10 to 15 EU, in case you need to use it while in Europe.
You might be able to cancel your reservation and re-do it.
Have you made sure that you filled in all the blanks correctly?
If you have a landline, you might want to see what the per minute cost to call France is, as that would be the simplest solution. I know my per minute cost for calls to Europe is very low.
As Robert said, check what it costs to call France from both your landline and your cell phone. If the cost is high, ask about plans to lower it. Depending on how many calls you're making, it may or may not be worth it to change your plan.
I have used 1010987 with good results and no problems, but someone posted more recently that it did not work for them. They say it's 10 cents per minute and 83 cents to connect. If you want to try it: http://1010987.com/index.asp?Country=France++++++++++++++++++++++++#rates
Thank you for the ideas. I did try to email several times and I think I filled in all the blanks correctly but haven't gotten any replies back. I'm not sure if the emails went through. I think I will have to call after all.
Google voice calls are via Internet and cost nothing. I called to confirm my hotel reservation on Mont Saint Michel with no problem
Just to update- we figured out that I had to email Digitick and not the contact via the Versailles website. Never got a reply from the latter but got a reply wihin 2 hrs from the Digitick site with my tickets. Versailles, here I come!!!!
