Calendar of Events for Paris

Planning a trip to France in June 2017 with 4 nights in Paris. Is there a website with a comprehensive calendar of events for Paris? Reading the recent posts, I'd like to plan around major events or, at least, be aware of them. I've been surprised that a few hotels recommended by friends are already full or don't have the type of room (for a family of 3) that we need. Appreciate any input!

Are you sure the hotels are full? If you really want a place, e-mail them directly. It's likely that they haven't released rooms on booking sites for June 2017 yet, so those dates are showing up as "not available" online, when it really means "not available yet." If you e-mail them, they can tell you if the rooms are really taken, or when they will become available for booking.

Yes, rooms for 3 are not as easy to find as rooms for 1 or 2, but they are definitely available. Be sure to specify what kinds of beds you need in the e-mail; do you want a double and a single, a queen and a single, three singles, or something else? There's much more variation of bed configurations in Europe than in the US, and if you have specific needs/wants, you must make sure the hotel can provide them.

Thanks for your response, Harold. I'm not concerned about finding a hotel - just surprised that the first few I tried were not available. Yes, I emailed and was told that they could not accommodate my dates (6/17-6/21). So, it made me wonder if there is a major event next June. I looked online, but didn't find anything. Is there a good online reference for events/conferences? Thanks!

It could be a standard reply when they aren't yet accepting bookings.

Most hotels will not accept bookings for the following year, because they might have to raise prices or there might be remodelling in the future - also, there are always problems with cancellations this far in advance (from the client who has found something better and forgets to cancel). You should try in January 2017.

Here are two websites which will help with the calendar of events, though not everything is listed yet. The sites will be updated regularly:

Well at least you know that neither the European Cup, nor the World Cup, nor the Olympics will be held here next June! That's already a start . . . .there's always Roland Garros (French Open) in June and it seems to me that there may be some fashion week in June too. You can google Fashion Week dates Paris 2017 to see if any intersect with your dates . . .

Hi Jennifer,

First of all, I applaud you for planning so far in advance. What worries me are the folks looking for accommodations for next week or next month...

As others already mentioned, it is probably too early to reserve a hotel for June 2017. I checked bookings.com (I do not use them, but figured they would have the numbers) and they show over 4,000 hotels in Paris. There are a couple of conventions listed for next June, but I can't imagine that they would bring in enough people to fill up the entire city.

If you are looking for other recommendations, my current favorite is the Hotel Empereur in the 7th. We've stayed there the last two years and like the hotel and the area very much. You could check the Rick Steves Paris book for other suggestions.

Hope you enjoy your trip!
