Cahors France

RS France book mentions Cahors but does not give a place to stay there. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good, moderately prices to stay in Cahors, France.

I don't have any specific help for you, but note that the Rough Guide of the Dordogne and the Lot has more in-depth coverage of all of the towns of relevance in the area, including Cahors.

My husband and I have stayed several times in Cahors at the Hotel Terminus, a short walk from the train station. It is a charming, family-run hotel with comfortable rooms and an excellent restaurant. The only downside could be that although it is near the station, it is not in the absolute center. It's a nice walk through residential streets to the center of the town. There are other, probably less expensive, hotels as well. Here is the official website for Cahors, which gives the housing options:

Just a note that Rick's listing for sleeping in the village of St-Cirque Lapopie (facing page, 512) is probably there because its hill-town location is more romantic and a bit closer to the Peche-Merle cave, but will certainly require walking from the car park to hotel with luggage.
