Cafe and restaurants

Nobody does, because the government has not yet started requiring the health pass for going to a cafe or restaurant.

This requirement will start in early August.

I heard from our contact in France that nothing will be enforced until August 5th at the earliest. Does anyone else have confirmation of the same?

We went to a Quick fast food place in Paris last week and they were scanning French health pass. They accepted our CDC card.

Any place that is scanning now and until the 5th, is doing so for health tracing purposes. Anyone without a code or a paper code can leave their information in a register provided by the restaurant. No one is being refused entry by government decree due to the lack of a pass sanitaire at this time.

Hi Stacy - I’m in Paris now (arrived yesterday). We entered museums (le Louvre and l’Orangerie) with just our CDC cards. Giverny yesterday - also with CDC cards. An outdoor cafe today also accepted CDC cards (none of the other cafes have even asked). We were in Normandy earlier in the week - all venues there accepted CDC cards. I was a bit worried when we went to our first attraction, but was met with “pas de problème.” So far, it’s been very easy! Just remember to keep your CDC cards and passports on you (some have checked the passport against the CDC card, but most have not).

We just checked in to a hotel in Avignon. They said that the checks for now are just at museums and large gatherings. They said the restaurant checks will start on or about August 5th. They seemed to think that CDC cards would be acceptable at that time.

@heather, that’s great to hear. When I checked the louvre today it said the pass sanitare was required or a recent Covid test result, so great that they allowed you in with the CDC card. I hope this will still be the case when I arrive on Sunday.
