Hi All,
Need to get from Caen to Avignon in July. Seems best bet is a flight to Marseilles then train to Avignon but wondering if there is any fast train options to Avignon to also consider? Seems likely not…?

Yes, there are fast trains. They cover the 570 miles in between 6 and 7-1/2 hours. Unfortunately, there is a change of station when you get to Paris, not just a change of train, which is an annoyance and costs some time.

I imagine it's too early to see schedules for July, but you can probably find the schedule for the first week of June. Use the day of the week on which you anticipate traveling.

If the flight days work with your schedule, it will be the best solution.
Note that the train station at Marseille airport is not right there, but about a mile away. There is a shuttle bus; it is walkable in a pinch if there is a problem - happened to me once (difficult navigation, though).
